Processes of Image Masking Technique

Photoshop offers many other ways of the background removal but for semi-transparent objects, the techniques are different and limited. You can edit them with clipping also but it won’t give you the result same as the image masking techniques and so it is highly recommended for the smoothing edges. Most of the images are worked with clipping because it gives the finest result without any mess and if you are a beginner and don’t know how to complete the clipping then you will always mess up with the image layers.





Masking is not even easy; it is just as hard and time consuming like the clipping path. It uses the time and manual work likewise the clipping, Image masking service can be great when you need to remove the background from the hair, fur, and glass-like material. It might take longer time than clipping as the hairlines are very tough to continue with. Masking is randomly used on the product images as some might need extra smoothness.

Photoshop allows editing images for image masking with various tools like Magnetic Lasso, Quick Mask, Magic Wand, and the Pen tool as well. The complexity of the images takes a lot of the patience and manual work and so Photoshop helps in different situation of the image with some manual and also a bit of automation work. Masking helps to bring the images into distortion to a minimum which results in ultra sharp images for the portal.

Different tools that might help you-


Quick Mask- it is the quickest of all, this will save your time and work both as it helps to paint and inverse the selection with the brush, paint bucket or pencil and many more. Here shades of black and gray are used where you will notice that the area you are drawing is turning pink; this pink area is the masked area which you can change to normal mode when the whole background is painted pink, you will see clear areas of the Quick Mask when selected for any other changes that you may need to change. After all, you can inverse the selection and delete the background.

Magnetic Lasso- it is used to detecting and snapping the borders of the object which creates dots along the cursor is moved through the objects lining. Both Magic wand and magnetic lasso are great for high contrast images and they both are easier and quicker to alter with.


Clipping Path- It is also used for background removal but not for the semi-transparent objects. It will destroy the lining of the images as it leaves behind hard edges which are very hard to remove and so it is used for the strong outlines where the harshness is needed to keep the object more visible and focused. It provides high quality remove the background with zero previous background present. It uses the pen tool to draw lines along the edges of the subject to cut the subject from the background and then the new layers are added for the new background.
